PHOTOS UPDATED ON 3/16: GROUP 4 RESPONDS TO MULTIPLE ALARM FIRE

Group 4 responded to a multiple alarm fire at 283 Willetts Ave., the Parkside West apartment building. Upon arrival, units found heavy fire coming from the top floor of the 3-story building with many occupants at the windows. Firefighters removed numerous civilians from the upper floors via ground ladders and interior stairs. Numerous mutual-aid units were required to contain and extinguigh the fire. A TheDay.com blogger reported that a storefront at 200 Bank St. will be open at 9:30am on Saturday 3/13/10 to receive donations for those forced out of their homes by this fire.
